다음의 명사구를 보자.
The qualifications [which/that you think are crucial for the job] 명사 + 관계절
이 문장의 관계절 부분을 독립된 절 어순으로 되돌려놓고 보면
You think (that) the qualifications are crucial for the job. 이고,
이를 가령 I have certain qualifications 라는 주절 뒤에 제한적 관계절로 종속시키면
(1) I have certain qualifications + You think (that) [the qualifications] are crucial for the job
(2) I have certain qualifications + which/that + You think (t---) (t-- q-------------) are crucial for the job
(3) I have certain qualifications + which/that + you think (----) (--- --------------) are crucial for the job
which/that 는 관계대명사 주격이다. (목적격이 아님에 주의)
(3)의 목적어 qualifications 이하만 보면
qualifications + which/that + you think (----) (--- --------------) are crucial for the job

I think 는 삽입이 아니다(삭제되고 없음)을 어제의 글에 적용한 것이다.
아래는 고스란히 적용할 만한 문장이므로 고스란히 전달한다.
하지만 일부 강사들이 이 현상을 설명하기 복잡하기 때문에 단지 편하다는 이유로 'I think' 류를 없다고 생각하고
삽입절로 보라고 하는데. 사실 위와 같은 성질이 존재한다.
삽입절로 보는 사람의 주장은
Can I refuse to do work which (I think) is unsafe?
I think 가 삽입이니까 없애버리고
Can I refuse to do work which is unsafe?
이렇게 보면 된다. 라고 하는데 사실이 아닌 것이다.
그리고 일반적으로 목적격 관계대명사만 생략이 가능하고, 주격은 which is 처럼 주격 + be 동사가 있는 경우 몽땅 날려서 생략
하는 걸로 문법책에 나와있지만.
딱 1가지 경우에 주격 관계대명사 생략이 된다. 바로 위 wh- movement 현상에서 wh- 가 생략이 된다. (which, who....)
[추가예문]
He is someone I think it is obvious [who] will be a problem.
He is someone who I think it is obvious will be a problem. (wh- movement)
The point that they appears to be a substantial difference between doing something you desire not to do and doing something you sincerely believe is immoral. (wh- movement (생략)
The point that they appears to be a substantial difference between doing something you desire not to do and doing something you sincerely believe [which] is immoral.

생략의 경우는 해도 되고 안 해도 된다는 결론.
