To Dear 40-year-old Me

This is 19-year-old you writing this letter to you. How are you doing? Hope you are doing well. For me, Halloween is coming, and I am so looking forward to it. After Halloween is over, a load of homework and reports will show up, and when I finish all of them, finals will be waiting there. And after these breathless days, I will finally turn 20 after the semester is over. Yet I really like those days and actually I'm quite enjoying them. I love my major and professors, and I feel like getting one step closer to my dream every moment I learn new things. I know you will understand this well, because you will be working as an admired, skillful, awesome interpreter.

So how is your work? You must be busy flying around the world, listening to people and translating their words, and travelling the world after your schedule is done. It must be cool to do that, but at the same time you must sometimes feel lonely; you, no, we get easily lonely. But don't worry, because many devices will be invented to stay in touch with your beloved people, and you will be meeting many new people as well.

And here is a friendly reminder: global talk shows were a fad in 2014 in Korea. Do you remember the show in which 12 male foreigners from different countries talk about things and cultures in Korea? Then guess what its name was. That's right. It was "비정상회담." And as I see, there wil be lots of this kind of TV shows in Korea, and many interpreters will have taken major parts and important roles in these shows. Are you also in charge of these programs? Are you also meeting many celebrities
Awesome! And how many languages are you able to speak now? You used to be the one who likes to learn languages.

The Korean society is becoming more multicultural. It is not difficult anymore to find people from other countries in Seoul, and I am feeling less and less awkward meeting black people; I used to be overwhelmed when I met them.

How's Korea in your time?
