Now we live in the time when the things like politics, economics, and cultures that led our 20th century are falling off at the high speed. As you know the beverage you enjoy drinking is produced by the cooperation of at least 5 major companies. This is our 21st century. Everything of ours are becoming globalized. I am sure that this century will be the one for interpreters and translators. Due to IT technology, the borders of countries have become meaningless while the new information written by foreign languages without a break is shared in the network of translation and interpretation. The 20th century culture of sharing information produced by some major language like German or English has been faded; small amounts of information from lots of languages have begun to make inroads upon the network. Owing to free-regulation, with the boundaries of economics becoming meaningless, the norms and standards of the systems enables lots of information to be translated by a number of languages.
After the visa exemption among countries is common, each year we see millions of people immigrate abroad. It is the field of translation and interpretation that managers them to help the new settlers to adopt themselves to the new environment including the new language that they are going to learn to speak and write. The role of translation and interpretation is getting bigger and bigger, which shape the world in which we live.
