1. 셀수있는 명사고 단수명사이면 반드시 관사를 


these days almost every teenager has cellphone = x

2. 관사 +s 로 적는 경우 


일반적으로 한 구룹의 전체를 이야기 할때는 보통 관사 없이 뒤에 복수 명사 (s) 로 적습니다. (미국에 한안거고 영국은 어떤지 잘 모르겠내요 )

Canadian is very nice -> Canadians are very nice 


3. "one of the...." 다음에는 반드시 복수 명사 


one of the best thing in toronto is the cn tower = x 

one of the best things in toronto is the cn tower = o


4. the 를 어느 명사앞에나 쓰지 말자 

두번째 경우와 같이 특정한 구룹 전체를 나타낸다고 해서 the 를 붙이면 안됨 어떤 구룹을 대표하는 뜻으로 명사를 사용할때는

"a/an + 명사" 혹은 "복수명사"로 나타냄 


in general, the canadians are very nice = x 

in general, canadians are very nice = o 



5. 관용적으로 the 를 쓰지 않는 경우가 많다. 

일상적으로 사용하는 말 중에 the 사용하지 않는 경우가 많다. 관용어구 는 외워야함 


in the morning, i go to the work at 8:00 = x 

in the morning, i go to work at 8:00 = o


on campus, on foot, by bus, by train, by car, by taxi, by plane, by subway, 

go home, get home, arrive home, stay home

go to work, be at work, start work, finish work

go to school, be in school, be at school 

go to college, be in college, be at college 

go to church , be at church 

go to class, be in class

go to prison, be in prison 

go to bed, be in bed, stay in bed 



6. "of"  와 같이 붙어 다니는 the 를 기억하기

most of , some of 처럼 전치사 of 와 명사를 연결할때는 반드시 the 를 써야함. the 대신 my, these 같은 소유격도 가능 


when we got to the theatre, most of seats were empty = x 

when we got to the theatre, most of the seats were empty = o 


7. "the + 명사" 는 대명사 it 으로 


i need my book, but i left that at home = x 

i need my book, but i left it at home = o 


8. a + 명사는 대명사 one 으로 


it 은 the + 명사   /  one 은  a/an +명사

those books look really good. i think i will buy it = x

those books look really good. i think i i will buy one. =o 


9  my another 이라는 말은 없습니다 


보통 나의 다른 친구라는 표현을 my another friend  라 하기 쉬운데 잘못된 표현임 


my another friend is from mexico => another friend of mine is from mexico. or another one of my friends is from mexico



10. some 보다는 a/an 을 사용할것 


잘 모르는 무언가를 이야기할때 보통 some 이라 말하기 쉬움 [상황에 따라 some이 맞는경우도 있긴함]  이런 경우 영작에서는 some 대신 a/an 을 사용 


this is some problem in my country => this is a problem in my country
