After a miraculous interpretation of Rach 3 concerto Yunchan Lim #yunchanlim graced us with a very unusual choice for his encore, Bellini’s Casta Diva. I have to say, as much as I liked his virtuoso, out of this world interpretation of my favorite concerto, Rach 3, as soon as he started playing Casta Diva I couldn’t help it, i started crying, a bit taken by surprise, a bit taken by his absolutely beautiful musicality, a bit of everything that that aria means to me, i cried from the first note to the last. Wow, he is only 19 years old! He is a rising star whose time has come. I had never seen 4 piano concertos in a row at BSO all sold out. It made me feel good to see so much interest in classical music, it made me feel grateful that the world has once again been graced with a beautiful, virtuoso, gifted pianist with a sprinkle of divine in his fingers.
