Fox suspension forks are tapered for a few reasons:

  • Weight saving
Tapered legs save weight and reduce the fork's frontal area, making it more aerodynamic.
  • Shorter travel
The 32 TC is a short-travel fork, so the entire lower leg isn't needed for tube overlap. This allows Fox to use the tapered design.
  • Arch location
Most suspension forks have their arch at the front, but the 32 Taper-Cast's arch is at the back. This allows for a shorter and lower arch for better frame clearance and cleaner aesthetics from the front.
  • Bypass channels
The ribs on the back of the legs are bypass channels that prevent excess air pressure build-up as the fork compresses. They also help circulate oil to it, moving smoothly.
