1. 헤드폰 소개

True Ribbon™ SR1a.
The world's first Earfield™ headphone monitor.

Raal은 리본 트위터를 만드는 짬 좀 있는 회사고

이 회사에서 모니터링용 스피커를 대체하기 위한 목적으로 헤드폰을 개발했는데

그 헤드폰이 SR1a임

리본 트위터 기반으로 만든 리본 드라이버를 사용하고

오디오필을 위한 음의 부활보단 스튜디오 사용목적을 위해 만든거지

설계부터 일반적인 헤드폰 앰프 사용이 아니라 스피커 앰프 사용을 고려해서 만들었기 때문에(제작당시 Benchmark AHB2를 사용했다고 함)

구성품에 스피커 앰프를 사용할 수 있는 '인터페이스 박스'가 포함되어 있고 이 인터페이스 박스를 경유해서 앰프를 연결함

Raal에서는 100W 급 앰프를 기준으로 삼고있음

이 헤드폰의 가장 큰 특징은 파츠들이 모듈화되고 분해 교체하기 쉽게 되어 있음

또한 구매가능하기 때문에 고장에 대한 염려가 많이 줄어들지

또한 Warranty가 5년인데, 엔지니어들한테 팔 것을 염두해서 그만큼 제대로 만들었다는 것을 유추할 수 있어

2. 평가

소리에 대한 평가를 종합하면

극도로 디테일하고 빠르며 가장 넓은 스테이지를 가지고 현존하는 헤드폰 중 가장 스피커에 가까운 경험을 할 수 있다.

가깝다는 표현은 누구는 정말 스피커같다고 그러고 누구는 차이가 있다고 그러더라

SR1a는 유닛 각도를 조절가능한데, 각도에 따라 다른 경험을 할 수 있고 이게 또 굉장히 매력적이라고 하더라

해당 리뷰어는 내가 종종 보던 리뷰어인데 자기는 SR1a를 쓴다고 앞으로 리뷰 더 이상 안할거처럼 올리고 신나게 빨더니

다른 사람에게 넘기고 더 이상 리뷰를 안하더라

3. 전용앰프

인터페이스는 SR1a를 사용할 때 큰 단점이고 이를 해결하기 위해 전용앰프가 출시되었음

SCHIIT에서 만든 Jotunheim 'R'이고 

평가는 굉장히 좋음. 훨씬 비싼 스피커용 앰프와 비교해서도 평가가 무척 좋을 정도

가격은 $799로 3000달러대 헤드폰용으로는 좋은 가격이라고 생각함

또, Raal 자체적을 앰프를 개발중이고 조만간 출시할 거라고 하는데 이름은 FOS 앰프고 가격은

In the thread on head fi everyone praises them to be the best headphone ever, outperforming even the Orpheus.

These are, as a matter of fact, higher-performing headphones than the Susvara, Abyss 1266 Phi, LCD4, Stax 009 and the Mysphere 3.2.

To put this in perspective, my usual “go to” headphone is the Stax SR009S running off the fantastic Blue Hawaii SE electrostatic amp. I can honestly say that once I put on the Raal Requisite, I have found myself unable to listen to the Stax in the same way again.

I will try to elaborate but firstly a word of warning. The Raal is a Monster!!

The 009 is far more closed in than the SHR1A, treble on both is excellent although the 009 emphasizes smoothness while the SRH1A emphasizes fast responses and energy. The bass on the 009 is nowhere as good as the SRH1A, it's not even a close matchup. The 009 is much more polite while the SRH1A is lightning quick and powerful, but might be more fatiguing than the 009

He claims that Sr1a give more details than Stax 009s.

I would agree, the SR1a does out-resolve the Stax. The only electrostatic headphone I’d put up against the SR1a is the HE90 (fed with the HEV90), and the SR1a still has advantages.

He prefers Sr1a to Abyss 1266 TC(p13) on overall performance.

I would also agree. The AB-1266 TC has better, or rather more extended and elevated, bass than the SR1a, but you can EQ the SR1a’ bass to within a couple of percent of the TC, and the SR1a is comfortably ahead everywhere else.

When compared to the 009, the SR1a is even faster and the difference in bass quality and extension is huge. The Stax is a bit more intimate but if you match systems (e.g. something like the AHB2 or Bryston 135^3 as a counterpart to the BHSE), the 009 cannot compete with the SR1a's on resolution or imaging.

The SR1A is the real spiritual successor to the K1000's adding bass and even more palpability, tactility, resolution and impact. In fact I perceive the SR1A to exceed the performance of the K1000's in all respects using the same set up (source, DAC and Amp)
