Tony DiNozzo Is No More, Michael Weatherly to Leave 'NCIS' after 13 SeasonsA sad day indeed for 'NCIS' fans

CBS

NCIS is losing its beloved playboy: Michael Weatherly is moving on.

After 13 years and 13 seasons on the show, Weatherly has confirmed his imminent departure. In a series of tweets posted Tuesday, the 47-year-old said he "couldn't have had more fun" playing DiNozzo's "wonderful, quixotic character," referring to the show as "the opportunity of a lifetime."

"I'll miss the amazing crew & cast, who are like family to me, & the fans all over the world," he said.

CBS later echoed Weatherly's statement, telling E! that he is "a valued part of the CBS family."

"...the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as 'Very' Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today—the No. 1 drama in the world. We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal."

NCIS has indeed become the highest-rated drama in the world, in addition to its spot as #1 series in America — it's no surprise Weatherly is staying on with the network that has catapulted him to TV fame.

Thankfully enough, we'll be seeing DiNozzo through the end of the current season, so try to get your fill.
