UCLA For IB: 2021
Lotta bullshit on this thread. UCLA should be a last resort choice if you are a high school senior who got into any other comparable school. UCLA is pretty much the only top 20-30 school without any school or faculty supported IB programs. In general, UCLA offers very little career development and the school doesn't care whether or not you land a job after graduating. As a result, your experience there will only be a function of how much work you put in.
If you're accepted into one of these three clubs: Bruin Asset Management, Bruin Hedge Fund, or Bruin Value Investing (which are all student run i.e. you need to make friends or have friends in these groups) then you're going to be fine. They will walk you through the process, help you land interviews, train you, etc.
If not, you're pretty much screwed and will have to do EVERYTHING yourself, which is overwhelming. You'll need to figure out applications open dates/deadlines, firm-specific interview tactics, technical interview questions/practice, behavioral questions, resume tips, and general guidance all on your own like you would if you just went to any non-target school. That's also only assuming you're able to land an interview in the first place which will require constant networking, thousands of cold calls and emails, and a lot of rejection.
Don't get me wrong, UCLA is an awesome school with a great culture, solid party scene and has strong career paths into a lot of different fields, but as a current Bruin, if you have the option of attending really any other top school and know you want to do IB, UCLA shouldn't even be in consideration.

Berkeley Or UCLA?
Berkeley is has way better recruiting for banking plus more alumni in finance plus better overall name. West Coast Recruiting: Stanford>=Berkeley>UCLA=USC Plus if your interested in NY there is some NY recruiting at Berkeley, not much but some.
You will have almost the same opps at UCLA, but more of them at Berkeley. GS TMT, MS Menlo Park, JPM TMT, Qatalyst and all other BB tech/hc groups in the bay have waaay more Berkeley alumni than UCLA or even Stanford a simple linkedin search will verify.
However if you want to stay in LA then UCLA might have a recruiting advantage, LA banks recruit from Berkeley, but I feel that the first picks come from UCLA/USC/Claremont. That being said most Berkeley kids want to do tech in the Bay(except maybe if it was Moelis) so I would say LA opportunities are equal at Berkeley and UCLA

Best Undergrad For IB: UMich Ross Vs. UC Berkeley Vs. USC Marshall Vs. UCLA Business Econ
Berkeley and Ross are your two best. Pick based on where you think you'd fit in better and have a better time. Both will get you IB as long as you don't fuck up.
Berkeley or Ross. Depends on how much money you want to spend
If cost was the same and you didn't have a preference of work location, it would make sense to go to UMich Ross. However, given Cal is much cheaper and you want to stay on the West Coast, it can't be beat. You don't need to get into Haas to get the same jobs.
I go to USC Marshall, I'll give a little insight. Marshall places incredibly well on the west coast and is only bested by Haas (in quantity) and Stanford (in quality). You can look at placements from Trojan Investing Society and several others. From 25 kids in TIS every year probably 6 go to JPM west coast and several to evercore, MS, BofA, Moelis. School wide 2-3 to Blackstone every year too and many to NYC IB as well. Interest in IB is also lower than say Haas or Ross. Much more enjoyable. I would say Haas beats Marshall and Marshall and Berkely Econ are probably equal for California in general. USC being much better for LA or Berkely for SF.
There was recently a thread about how bad UCLA places, like 20 solid placements for 4000 kids. I wouldn't go there
id go UCLA. good academic school. Weather +Sports+campus(ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ), college isnt only about getting into IB. If you are smart you will get in wherever you go
1) While I agree college isn't about only getting into IB, Berkeley is a superior academic school for business/finance and has more opportunities for consulting and significantly better recruiting for finance. Seems like a great choice of being great for for OP's goals and low cost.
2)I don't see any reason to pick UCLA over USC if you want IB, maybe cost
Pre-MBA consultant at one of the big firms here... In my view this is a tough call.
Cal is the most prestigious overall university of these three options. However, as I'm sure you know, UCLA has a Very strong reputation abroad, probably equal to CAL or close to it. Marshall is a great option if you like LA and are dead set on studying business. However, if your interests are more diverse and you don't see yourself in LA after graduation, I'd go with one of the other two.
On a personal note, Marshall is smaller and will be a more intimate community, which is valuable espec. as a transfer. I would not under weight this.
For reference on your post graduate consulting prospects: of these three schools, my firm only recruits at CAL... However, there are plenty of UCLA and USC people in consulting too
