I assume that we all know what happened to Evangelist Carlton Pearson, whose life is made into a movie.

I just can’t imagine his becoming an Universalist, a type of Christianity that believes in the ultimate salvation of all people regardless of faith.

What would happen to his sense of humor and prophetic gift?

After becoming an Universalist, the celebration is over, and one has no need for humor or prophecy.

The fact that Carlton became an Universalist means that he is an independent thinker,

unlike many other big time preachers who do not speak from their hearts but who are acting on the stage.

But even for an independent thinker, Universalism was an unlikely and undesirable destination.

I believe Carlton could’ve found that the love of Christ is deeper than what the charismatic evangelical Christianity makes it out to be; he could’ve been a sympathetic caretaker of souls without being an Universalist.
