고룡의 시대,아직 세상은 형성되지 않았고,안개가 뒤덮고 있었다.땅에는 회색빛 바위들,거목들 그리고 영생하는 용들만이 존재하고 있었다.
(In the Age of Ancients world was unformed, shrouded by fog.A land of grey crags, Archtrees and Evelasting dragons.)

그러나 불이 타올랐고 그 불은 세상을 나눴다.열과 냉기, 삶과 죽음, 그리고 당연하게도 빛과 어둠.
(But then there was fire and with fire came disparity.Heat and cold, life and death, and of course light and dark.)

어둠에서 온 자들이 불꽃속에서 왕의 소울을 찾게되니.
(Then from the dark they came and found the souls of lord within the flame.)

최초의 사자 니토, 이자리스의 마녀와 혼돈의 딸들, 태양빛의 왕 그윈과 그의 충성스러운 기사들. 그리고 너무나도 쉽게 잊혀진, 한 존재감 없는 난쟁이.
(Nito,the first of the Dead, the Witch of Izalith and her Daughters of Chaos, Gwyn, the Lord of sunlight, and his faithful knights.And the furtive pygmy,so easily forgotten.)

왕의 힘으로 그들은 용에게 도전했다.
(With the strength of lords they challenged the dragon.)

그윈의 강력한 벼락은 고룡들의 바위비늘을 산산조각 냈고.마녀들은 거대한 화염 폭풍을 일으켰으며.니토는 공기로 죽음과 질병을 퍼뜨렸다 그리고 비늘없는 용 시스의 배신으로 고룡은 세상에서 찾아볼 수 없게 되었다.
(Gwyn's mighty bolts peeled apart their stone scales.The Witches weaved great firestorms.Nito unleashed a miasma of death and desease and Seath the Scaleless betrayed his own,and the Dragons were no more)

이것이 불의 시대의 시작이다.그러나 결국 태초의 불이 점차 사그라들기 시작했고 왕의 힘을 가진 자들은 어둠의 시대가 오는것을 두려워했다.
(Thus began the age of fire.Though eventually the First Flame flickered and waned, and so too did the power of lords, who feared the coming age of dark.)

불행하게도, 이자리스의 마녀가 생명의 소울로 태초의 불꽃을 다시 만들어낼려고 했으나, 곧  혼돈이 드리웠고, 마녀와 그녀의 딸들을 혼돈으로 물들였다.
(Desperate, the Witch of Izalith attempted to recreate a new Flame using her Soul of Life, but instead, chaos emerged, corrupting the Witch and her daughters)

다른 방법으로, 그윈은 그의 빛의 소울을 나누어 그의 후계자들에게 나누어 주었고 그는 스스로를 불태우면 수천년간 불의 시대를 이어갔다.
(other choice, Gwyn divided his soul of light amongst his disciples and sacrificed himself to prolonging the Age of Fire another thousand years)

(But soon the flames will fade and only Dark will remain.Even now there are only embers, and man sees not light, but only endless nights)

그리고 살아 있는 사람들 가운데는 죽은 후에 다시 태어나게 다크 링의 저주를 받았지만 결국 망자로 전락하는 자들도 있었다.
(And amongst the living are seen carriers of Darksign that brands of undead, those who are cursed to be reborn after death, but eventually degenerates into insanity)

그리고 이나라에서는, 불사자들을 모아 북쪽으로 보내 가둬버렸다 세상이 끝날때까지...
(And in this land, the undead are corralled and led to North, where they are locked away, to await the end of the world...)

이것이 망자가되가는 한 불사자의 운명이다, 아니면 그는 생각한다.
(This was to be the fate of one particular, lowly undead. Or so he thought.)

그는 깨어났다, 춥고 허약하며, 무언가가 떨어지는 소리가 감옥에 울려퍼졌다.한 시체와... 열쇠가 있다.한 기사가 하늘에서 내려다보고 있었다.
(He awoke, cold and frail, to a heavy thud in his cell.A body... And a key.A knight peered down from the skylight above.)

감옥에서 나와, 불사자는 그의 은인이 바닥에 널부려져 죽음에 가까이 가고 있었다.
(After unlocking his cell, the undead found his savior slouched on the ground and near death)

"너는......망자가 아니구나. 다행이다. 난 이제 틀렸어. 곧 죽을거야. 그러면 분별력을 잃겠지. 네게 부탁이 있다. 우린 같은 처지야. 내 말을 끝까지 들어주겠지? 부끄럽지만 내 사명을 부탁한다. 그것을 네가 맡아주었으면 해. 우리 가문에 전해지는 이야기인데 불사는 사명의 낙인이라고 하더군. 낙인이 나타난 자는 왕들의 땅으로 떠나 자각의 종을 울리면 불사의 사명을 알게 되리라."

마침내, 하루하루 썩어가던 영원한 시간이 지나고, 희망이 생겼다.시들어 버린 그의 마음을 풀어준 그의 목적은 이제 선택받은 불사자는 로드란으로 향했다.
(Finally, after an eternity of rotting away day after day, there was hope.His purpose having lifted his withered heart, the now Chosen Undead was swept away to Lordran.)

왕국은 불사자들, 길을 잃은 영혼들과 이미 무너진 자들로 가득 차 있었다. 몇몇은 그 시대의 허무함에 사로잡혔다.아니면 그냥 바보였을지도 모른다.
(The kingdom was teeming with undead, lost souls waiting to go hollow, and those who already had. Some were overcome with the nihilism of the age. Or perhaps they were just fool.)

목표는 간단했다, 종을 울리고 불사자의 진정한 사명을 찾는 것.그곳에 가는 것이 더 어렵다는 것을 증명하고 있었다.
(The task was simple, ring the bells and discover the true fate of the undead. Getting there was proving more difficult.)

수많은 투쟁과 철의 부딪힘 후에, 가장 높은 성을 기어오르고 가장 깊은 최하층을 횡단한 후에, 두 종을 모두 울렸고, 어둠 건너편에 뱀 같은 생명체가 나타났다.
(After countless struggles and clashing of steel, after climbing the tallest catsle and traversing tue deepest depth, both bells were rung, and a serpentine creature across from the darkness.)

"자네의 목적은 그윈의 왕위를 계승해서 불꽃을 일으켜 어둠을 몰아내고 불사의 우상을 제거하는 것이야. 그러려면 왕도 아노르 론도로 가서 왕의 그릇을 가져와야 해.사명을 완수하려면 위대한 소울을 그릇에 채워야 하네. 허나 그윈의 소울은 실로 거대하지. 게다가 그런 막대한 소울을 지닌 자는 드물어. 그윈 정도로 위대한 소울을 지닌 자는 묘왕 니토, 이자리스의 마녀. 그윈의 소울을 나누어 가진 작은 론도의 왕들과 대왕의 친구 백룡 시스일세. 그릇을 채우려면 그들의 소울이 필요해."

위대한 왕의 소울을 모으는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니지만, 각각의 타락한 왕의 소울을 가진자를 쓰러트릴만큼 선택받은 불사자는 더 강해졌다.
(Collecting the great Lord Souls would be no easy feat, but each with fallen fiend the Chosen Undead grew stronger.)

왕의 그릇은 회수되어야 하지만 왕의 강력한 신하들이 지키고 있었다. 그의 힘을 증명하면서, 선택받은 불사자는 태양빛의 왕녀이자 대왕 그윈의 딸인 아름다운 그위네비아로부터 왕의 그릇을 받았다.
(The vessel would need to be retrived, but was guarded by powerful servants of the king. Proving his strength, the Chosen Undead was granted audience with the beautiful Gwynevere, daughter of Lord Gwyn and Princess of Sunlight.)

"시련을 극복한 불사의 영웅이여. 이쪽으로 오세요. 불사의 영웅이여. 제 이름은 그위네비아. 대왕 그윈의 딸, 태양빛의 왕녀입니다. 아버님이 사라진 이후로 당신을 기다렸습니다. 그대에게 왕의 그릇을 드리겠습니다. 부디 대왕 그윈의 후계자로서 세계의 불꽃을 지켜주십시오. 그리하면 인간 세상의 어둠이 끝나고 불사의 저주도 사라집니다."
