얼마전에 축구 경기에서도 큰 논란이 일어났고....
과연 미국인들은 욱일승천기에 대해 어떻게 생각을 할까 하고 야후 지식인에 질문을 했군요.

Just like modern Americans and Europeans get offended by Nazi flags and Reichskriegsflagge, Koreans and Chinese get extremely offended by the Rising Sun flags. But it seems like Americans don't care about these Japanese flags very much since they even adopted the theme for some US Navy planes stationed in Japan and many American pilots there wear rising sun patches on their shoulders. It would be weird if American helicopter pilots stationed in Germany wear Nazi flag patches. Do Americans not care about the Rising Sun anymore these days?
미국인들과 유럽인들이 독일 나치기에서 대해서 모욕감을 느끼는데, 한국인들과 중국인들도 욱일승천기에서 모욕감을 느낍니다. 그런데 미국인들은 일본주둔 미해군 전투기들에 욱일승천기 문양을 채용하고, 미국 조종사들은 욱일기 모양 패치를 어깨에 착용하는등 별로 큰 감정이 없어보입니다. 만약 독일에 주둔한 미군 헬기파일럿이 나치 깃발 모양 패치를 찬다면 위화감이 들것입니다. 미국인들은 요즘 욱일승천기에 대해 별로 감정이 없습니까?

We tend to be fairly forgiving people, having thick skin is a key part of being American. Additionally, we kinda got them to unconditionally surrender and since then we have had very good relations with the Japanese. There is loads of japanese symbolism in U.S. Military patches and insignia. Look at the 8th MP patch, it's a sword in front of a sun that contains a yin yang. 우리 미국인들은 상당히 자비심이 강한 사람들이지. 비난에 아랑곳 하지 않는게 바로 미국인이 되는 열쇄이지. 그리고 우리는 일본에게 무조건적인 항복을 받아냈고, 그후로 일본과 상당히 좋은 관계를 유지했지. 미군들의 패치들과 휘장들을 보면 곳곳에서 많은 일본의 상징을 볼수 있을것이다.

My beloved grand father went AWOL from the Army when he found out he was going to Europe and enlisted in the USMC after the war he was bought up on charges his only defence was he 'wanted to kill Japs' and by God he did his hatred scared me I remember overhearding him talking of burning out of their holes 'did not shoot them let them die in pain'

내 사랑하는 할아버지는 유럽전장으로 투입된다는것을 알고 육군에서 탈영한 다음에, 미해병대에 재입대했어. 전쟁 끝나고 탈영죄로 기소된 할아버지가 한 변명은 "일본인들을 죽이고 싶었어" 였어. 할아버지가 총으로 쏴죽이지 않고, 고통속에서 죽일라고 , 불에 태워 죽였다고 말하는걸 계속해서 들었는데 많이 무서웠지

We don't have any ongoing battle-related history with the Japanese, like the Koreans do. If anything, the Japanese should be more offended by Americans' lack of self control, discipline, intelligence, common sense and pride in the quality of their work.

As to the Rising Sun flag causing offense to the US. Most people don't know or care about the flag. Some things just fade away with time.

오히려 승전국에선 패전국 장군이나 문화 띄워주기를 좋아하지ㅋㅋㅋ 패전국이 뛰어난 나라일수록 그 나라를 쳐바른 자기들은 더 뛰어나다는 뜻이 되니까
