우리들은, 그럼에도 불구하고, 모든 공산주의자들이 식민지 혁명의 역할과 중요성에 대해 적절하게 인식하고 이해하고 있지는 못하다는 사실을 언급해야만 한다. 이 사실은 중국혁명에 대한 자본주의 선진국의 형제 공산당들의 태도에서 분명히 드러났다. 일본의 형제 공산당은 그의 최대한의 힘을 쏟아 일본제국주의에 맞서는 투쟁과 중국 인민을 방어하기 위한 투쟁을 영웅적으로 수행하고 있다. 미국의 형제 공산당은 중국 홍군을 위한 모금을 시작했다-비록 지금 막 시작된 것이지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 이것은 중요한 시작이다-. 그러나 이러한 예외를 제외하면 우리의 다른 형제 공산당들은 중국혁명에 대한 지원을 고려하고는 있지만, 프로파간다 선전 정도의 수준으로 자신들의 실천을 제한하고 있다.

이와 연관하여, 나는 한달 반 전에 우리의 영웅적인 일본 동지들 중 한명에 의해 수행된 진정으로 혁명적인 국제주의 연대의 매우 감동적이고 훌륭한 실천에 대해 언급하려 한다. 1935년 6월 23일, 길림성 동부, Lin-an county, 한 일본군 운전병이, 6만발의 기관총 및 소총탄과 수류탄과 폭탄들을 실은 자동차를 몰고서, 항일 소부대들이 종종 은신하는 외로운 산악지대로 왔다. 그러나, 오랜 수색에도 불구하고 그는 항일 유격대를 찾을 수 없었다. 공격해오는 일본군 소부대의 발포음이 바로 근처에서 들려왔다. 일본군 운전병이 자결을 결심한 것은 바로 그 때였다.

 

항일유격대가 일본군의 공격을 격퇴했고, 24일 이른 아침에 그들은 산길에 죽어있는 일본군 운전병이 탄 자동차를 발견했다. 그의 주머니에서 그들은 그들에게 보내는 유서를 찾았다. 그유서에 무명의 일본군 운전병은 이렇게 썼다:

“항일 구국군과 모든 항일 유격 부대들의 동지들에게:

“저는 여러분에게 작은 선물을 가져왔습니다-6만발의 총탄과, 많은 수류탄과 폭탄들입니다. 저는 여러분에게 일본 공산당과 일본의 혹사당하는 인민들이 당신들-애국자인-에게, 그리고 우리의 이웃인 전 중국 인민에게, 그리고 우리와 함께 일제 침략자들에 맞서 투쟁을 수행하고 있는 용감한 중국의 형제 공산당에게, 무한한 사랑, 연대, 그리고 존경을 담아 꼭 인사드리고 싶었습니다.

저는 여러분들을 오래 기다렸지만, 더 이상 기다릴 수 없습니다. 접근해오는 일본군의 발포음이 벌써 들립니다. 이런 상황에서는 저에게 가능한 남은 일은 하나밖에 없습니다. 나는 일본군으로 돌아갈 수 없으며 돌아가지 않을 것입니다. 나는 자결하고 이 작은 선물을 여러분에게 남기려 합니다. 받을 수 있을지 모르겠지만, 그러길 빕니다.

동지적 애정을 담아 인사를 건넵니다, 여러분의 일본 동지들 중 한명이-

1935년 6월 23일.”

 

이는 우연한 사건이 아니다; 극동의 두 위대한 민족의 연대와 경의와 상호친교를 반영하는 역사적인 중요성을 띤 사건이다. 그렇다! 우리 중국인은 일제에 맞서 싸우고 있으나, 우리는 일본 인민에 애정을 갖고 있다. 우리들은 일제가 우리를 침략하고 착취하고 탄압하기 때문에 맞서 싸우지만, 일본 인민이 역사와 문화적 측면에서 우리와 가장 가까우며, 상호 이해와 존경의 측면에서 가장 밀접하게 연관되어 있기에, 우리는 일본 인민을 사랑한다. 우리와 일본 인민은 하나의 같은 적-일본 제국주의-에 맞선 투쟁을 같이 수행하고 있기에 그들을 사랑한다.

 

그렇다! 저 일본군 병사는 우리의 영웅적인 일본 공산주의자 동지들 중에 단 한명일 뿐이었다. 일본과 세계의 다른 공산당들에는 저러한 혁명적 국제주의의 영웅들이 수없이 많을 것이 틀림없다. 그리고 그런 영웅들 각각은 모두 혁명적이고 양심있는 세계인들에게 동경과 존경을 받을 가치가 있다.

 

우리의 불멸의 영웅, 이름없는 일본 동지에게 무한한 영광을!

그들의 대오에서 이처럼 영웅적인 혁명적 국제주의 투사를 길러낸 영웅적인 일본 공산당에게 영광을!

모든 세계가 자랑스러워 할 위대한 아들을 길러낼 수 있었던 영웅적인 일본 노동계급과 민중에게 영광을!

우리의 레닌주의자-스탈린주의자 공산주의 인터내셔널에 영광을! 자신의 생명을 세계혁명의 대의를 위해 희생하길 아끼지 않았던 그러한 진정으로 위대한 영웅은 오직 이 대오 안에서만 만들어지고 단련될 수 있었으니!

 

나는 이미 모든 공산주의자들이 식민지 혁명의 중요성과 역할에 대해 올바르게 이해하고 평가하고 있지는 못하다고 지적한 바 있다. 이는 자본주의 선진국들에서 활동하는 일부 공산주의자들이 식민지 혁명을 무언가 자신들과는 관계없는 것이거나, 가장 잘 쳐주더라도, 그다지 중요하지 않은 것으로, 세계혁명의 보조군에 불과한 것으로 여긴다는 사실에서 잘 드러나고 있다. 이는 새로운 시대의 식민지혁명의 중요성에 대한 전적으로 잘못된 개념이다. 세계혁명의 시대에, 레닌과 스탈린에 따르면, 그 세계혁명의 주요 구성 요소는 식민지 혁명이기 때문이다. 








We must, nevertheless, mention the fact that not all Communists properly understand and recognize the role and importance of colonial revolutions. This is clearly shown by the attitude of our brother Parties in the capitalists countries towards the Chinese revolution. Facts show that with the exception of our Japanese brother Party, which is heroically struggling with its utmost power against Japanese imperialism and for the defense of the chinese people, and with the exception of our American party, which has begun –even if it has only just begun, it is nevertheless a beginning-to collect money for the Chinese Red Army, our other brother parties as far as assistance to the Chinese Revolution is concerned have as yet limited themselves, to a certain extent, to agitation and propaganda. Meanwhile, the Chinese revolution is in actual need of support, primarily on the part of the workers of all the large imperialist countries. In his report, Comrade Dimitroff assured us, to the thunderous applause of the entire congress, of his firm determination to support the struggle of the Chinese people for its emancipation from all the imperialist beasts of prey and their Chinese agents. The Chinese people has the right to expect practical measures from the world proletariat in support of its liberation movement.

In connection with this, I would like to mention one extremely moving and outstanding act of genuinely revolutionary international solidarity performed by one of our heroic japanese comrades a month and a half ago. On June 23, 1935, in Eastern Kirin, Lin-an county, a Japanese military chauffeur drove a motor-lolly, loaded with 60,000 machine-gun and rifle bullets, hand grenades and bombs, to a lonely mountain spot where the anti-Japanese detachment usually hid. However, despite a long search he could not find the partisans. The gun-fire of an attacking Japanese detachment could already be heard nearby. It was then that the Japanese chauffeur decided to commit suicide.

The chinese partisans repulsed the attack of the Japanese troops, and early on the morning of June 24 they found the motor-lolly with the dead chauffeur on a mountain path. In his pocket they found a farewell letter addressed to them. In this letter the unknown Japanese chauffeur wrote:

"Dear Comrades of the anti-Japanese people's army and of all anti-Japanese partisan detachment:

“I have brought you small present-sixty thousand bullets, and many hand grenades and bombs. I would very much have liked to speak to you in person of the unbounded love, solidarity and respect which the Communist party of Japan and he Japanese toiling people feel towards you-national heroes-towards the entire Chinese people who are near and dear to us and towards the valiant brother Communist Patty of China, which together with us is carrying on the struggle against the Japanese imperialist vultures. I waited a long time for you, but can wait no longer. I can already hear the gunfire of he approaching Japanese troops. Only one thing remains for me to do under these circumstances. I cannot and will not return to the Japanese troops. I have decided to kill myself and leave you this little present. I don't know, though, whether you will receive it. I hope you will.

"I shake your hand.

"With comtadely greetings,

"One of yotrr Japanese Communist comrades.

"June 23, l935.“

 

This is not a chance act; it is an act of historic significance refecting the mutual love, respect and solidarity of the two great peoples of the Far East. Yes! we Chinese are against Japanese imperialism, but we love the Japanese people. We are against Japanese imperialism because it oppresses, exploits and annihilates us, the Chinese people, but we love the Japanese people because the Japanese people is the nearest to us, the Chinese people, in point of history and culture, the most closely related in point of mutual understanding and respect. We love the Japanese

people because together with us it is carrying on a struggle against one and the same common enemy-Japanese imperialism.

Yes! This was only one of our heroic Japanese cornrade Communists. There must be many such heroes of revolutionary internationalism in the Japanese and in other Parties. And each of such heroes is worthy of the admiration and respect of the revolutionary and the best minds of the world.

Eternal glory to our immortal hero, the unknown Japanese comrade!

Glory to our heroic Cornmunisr Party of Japan which has raised in its ranks such a heroic fighter of revolutionary internationalism!

Glory to the heroic Japanese working class and the Japanese toiling people which was able to produce this great son of whom the whole world may be proud!

Glory to our Leninist-Stalinist Communist international! Only in its ranks could such a truly great hero, who did not spare his life for the great cause of world revolution, be forged and tempered!

I have already pointed out that not all Communists properlyestimate and understand the role and the significance of colonial revolutions. This may be shown by the fact that cettain Communists who work in capitalist counrries usually regard colonial revolutions as something extraneous, or, at best, as insignificant, auxiliary forces of the world revolution. This is an entirely incorrect conception of the role and significance of the colonial revolutions of the new epoch-the epoch of wodd proletarian revolution, one of whose component parts, according to Lenin and Stalin, is the colonial revolution.
