The doctoral dissertation is the ultimate requirement for a student to earn the Ph.D degree. The dissertation should be original work which contributes significantly to the body of current research and which has the potential for publication in a reputable journal. The Dissertation Committee has the same requirements as the Comprehensive Exam Committee. While these committees do not have to be the same, they frequently are. 박사 학위 논문은 학생이 박사 학위를 취득해야하는 궁극적 인 요건입니다. 논문은 현 연구의 본질에 크게 기여하고 평판 좋은 저널에 게재 될 잠재력을 가진 독창적 인 작품이어야합니다. 학위 논문위원회는 종합 시험위원회와 동일한 요구 사항을 가지고 있습니다. 이위원회들은 동일 할 필요는 없지만 종종 동일합니다. 마지막 요구 사항은 논문 심사위원회에서 시험에서
딱히 박사논문 수준이 어느정도가 되어야 하는지 구체적으로 명시되어있지는 않음. 국내 대학원 중에서는 SCI 게재 조건을 넣는경우가 있는데.. 이건 말 그대로 최소요건이고 궁극적으로는 박사논문심사를 치러서 지도교수를 포함한 심사위원들이 OK 사인을 내려야 박사학위 취득이 가능한거야. 위 학교의 경우에는 SCI 게재조건같은게 명시되어있지 않은데, 수학에서 SCI 게재는 그냥 일상적인 것이기 때문에 그 정도도 안 되면 OK를 안해주겠지.
