  “그와 내가 그냥 칙칙한
  어느 옛 술집에서 만났다면,

  둘이 앉아 술잔 주고받으며

  “하필 보병으로 배치되어,
  얼굴 맞대고 노려보며,
  그는 나를 나는 그를 쏘다가,
  그 자리에서 그를 죽였다.
  
  “나는 그를 쏴 죽였다 왜냐면 ‐
  왜냐면 그는 나의 적이었기에,
  그뿐: 물론 그는 나의 적이었다,
  틀림없이 그랬다. 어쩌면
  
  “그도 무심코 덜컥 입대한 게
  아닌가 싶었으리‐꼭 나처럼 ‐
  일자리 잃고 ‐ 세간도 다 처분한 터에 ‐

  어느 바에서 만나면 술을 대접하든가,
