Pierre Curie included the following statement in his acceptance speech for the 1903 Nobel Prize in physics: "It is possible to conceive that, in criminal hands, radium might prove very dangerous."


This statement would have been more prescient if Pierre had used the terms "military" or "political" instead of "criminal", although these terms are interchanegable in some instances.
