암호명 노섹스NOSEX라고 알려진 저 화학물질은 이미 오래전에, 벌써 1970년대에 합성되었다. 그 물질의 존재에 대해서는 내부에서 소수의 전문가들만이 알고 있었다. 그 합성물 견본은 처음에는 일종의 비밀스러운 무기로 여겨졌고 펜타곤과 연고가 있는 조그만 회사의 실험실에서 관리했다. 노섹스를 분무기 형태로 사용한다면 실제로 어느 나라든 인구를 열 배로 늘릴 수 있었는데, 왜냐하면 이 물질은 몇 분의 1밀리그램만 사용하더라도 친근한 인간관계의 경험을 전부 다 성적인 행위로 바꾸어 버릴 수 있기 때문이었다. 이 행위는 실제로 오로지 일종의 육체노동으로서만, 그것도 탈수나 세탁이나 다듬이질 같은 매우 소모적인 육체노동으로서만 계속 진행 가능했다. 이후에 노섹스 이용이 제3세계에서 인구 폭발을 막기 위한 계획으로서 부활했으나 이 기획은 위험한 것으로 판명되었다.

This chemical that instantly was acknowledged to be a secret weapon was created in the labs of a small company affiliated with Pentagon. Spraying of it in a form of an aerosol would indeed make a devastating blow at enemy's demographic potential. A fraction of a milligram was enough to eliminate all sensations normally coinciding with sex. Which, by itself, still remained possible, but only as a form of physical labor, and fairly hard one at that, a lot like washing, wringing or ironing. There was an idea to use "antisex" to control the population growth in the third world but it was decided to be risky..

The drug was immediately recognized to be a type of secret weapon, and was manufactured by the laboratories of a small firm connected with the Pentagon. The use of Nosex in aerosol form could in fact decimate the population of any country, because the drug, taken in quantities of fractions of a milligram, eliminated all sensation accompanying the sex act. The act, true, continued to be possible, but only as a variety of physical labor, fairly fatiguing, like wringing out clothes, scouring pots, scrubbing floors. Later on, consideration was given to the idea of using Nosex to check the population explosion in the Third World, but the plan was thought to be dangerous.
