The point here is that you need nothing from outside yourself in order to be saved. You do not even need an outer religion, for it is indeed possible that people can transform their consciousness without following a formal religion. A religion should ideally help you go through this inner transformation—it should encourage that transformation without in any way hindering it. In other words, a true religion is seeking to bring out what you already have inside rather than claiming it can give you something you don’t have. When a religion has helped you establish an inner contact to your spiritual teacher and higher being, then it has fulfilled its role and has now made itself obsolete in terms of telling you what to believe or what to do. Obviously, you can still be involved with such a religion in order to fulfill the Omega aspect of your salvation, which is to help others, as we will later explore in detail.

We can now see that the definition of a dualistic religion is a religion which does not fulfill this requirement. This is a religion which states that you do not have everything you need inside yourself and that God, in effect, created you as an incomplete and perhaps even a flawed being. As such, you need something or someone from outside yourself in order to be saved. Some religions say you need the outer organization or its leaders. Some say you need an external savior, but they still set themselves up as the only mediator between you and that savior. The consequence of these beliefs – which come in a number of subtle disguises – is that you cannot be saved without the outer religion, and thus you will always need the religion. In other words, instead of seeking to make itself obsolete, a dualistic religion has become an end in itself. It is seeking to keep you in a codependent relationship with the outer organization and its leaders. Of course, you will also be in a codependent relationship with the dualistic forces behind such a religion.
