As a starting point, consider that one of the major contributions of science is that it has proven beyond any doubt that many visible effects have an invisible cause. As an example, imagine that you suddenly have bleeding sores appear all over your body. You try to treat them by putting ointment on the sores themselves, thus dealing with the visible effect. Yet the sores don’t go away, and you eventually go to the doctor. Because she is a scientist, she knows that the visible sores are caused by an invisible cause, namely an infection in your blood. By killing the bacteria, you remove the cause and the effect goes away. Science has revealed the following about cause and effect:

Science still cannot describe exactly how energy becomes matter, but this is partly – as explained earlier – caused by the fact that science has ignored mind. As described, quantum physics has shown a clear link between consciousness and subatomic particles. Some scientists are now theorizing that the basic building block of the universe is not particles or energy waves but information.

Yet what tells groups of these particles to combine into an oxygen and a hydrogen atom? And what tells these atoms to combine into a water molecule? What tells other particles to create other atoms that form minerals? And what tells all the molecules to combine so they form an entire planet with huge oceans? Since quantum physics has shown an undeniable connection between matter and mind, the process whereby energy – the stuff of mind – becomes matter cannot be an unconscious or unintelligent process.

The most open-minded scientists have now begun to theorize that the universe has its specific form because the basic substance out of which it is made has taken on form based on information that was somehow applied to it. The problem scientists have is that information can exist only in a conscious mind. You might think that you have information stored in a book or on your computer’s hard drive. Yet what is stored in a book’s pages is simply black dots that are arranged in a certain pattern. What is stored on your computer is an arrangement of on/off signals in the form of the numbers 0 and 1. This is data but it is not information. The data from a computer or the dots in a book do not become information until someone reads it and interprets it. Thus, only a conscious mind can turn meaningless data into information that can be applied.
