‘젊음의 묘약’(an elixir of youth), 인간의 노화를 막아주는 약(an anti-ageing pill)은 개발이 가능할까. 미국 텍사스대학 연구팀은 곧 가능할 것이라고 말한다.

앨런 리처드슨 박사가 이끄는 연구팀은 인간의 수명을 10년 이상 늘릴 수 있는(could extend the human life span by more than a decade) ‘젊음의 원천’ 약(a ‘fountain of youth’ drug)을 만들어냈다고 9일(현지시각) 과학저널 ‘네이처’를 통해 밝혔다.

이 노화방지 약은 지구상에서 가장 멀고 신비로운 곳 중 하나인 (남태평양) 이스터 섬의 토양에서 발견된 화학물질로 만들어졌다(be created from a chemical found in the soil of Easter Island – one of the most remote and mysterious places on the planet).
