A Time For Choosing
Lets set the record straight.
제대로 한번 얘기해봅시다.
There is no argument over the choice between peace and war,
평화와 전쟁 중의 택일에는
논쟁의 여지가 없습니다.
but there is only one guaranteed way you can have peace and you can have it in the next second, surrender.
뿐만 아니라 평화를 순식간에 얻을 수 있는 확실하게 보장된 방법도 있긴 있습니다. 항복입니다
Admittedly there is a risk in any course we follow other than this,
의심할 나위없이 이외의 다른 방법은 그 어떤 것이든 위험이 따릅니다.
but every lesson in history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement
그러나 역사의 모든 교훈들은
유화정책(햇볕정책)에 더 큰 위험이 도사리고 있다는 것을 말해줍니다.
and this is the specter our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face that their policy of accommodation is appeasement,
그런데 무서운 게 있습니다.
의도는 좋은 리버럴들은 그들의 융통성 있는 정책이
(그런 위험한) 유화정책(일 뿐)임을 외면한다는 것입니다.
and it gives no choice between peace and war, only between fight or surrender.
"평화냐 전쟁이냐" 사이의 선택은 없습니다.
오직 "싸우느냐 항복이냐"의 선택이 있을 뿐입니다.
If we continue to accommodate, continue to back and retreat, then eventually we have to face the final demand, the ultimatum.
만약 우리가 계속해서 수용하고, 물러서고, 후퇴하다 보면,
결국 마지막 요구에 직면할 수밖에 없습니다. 최후통첩입니다.
And what then?
그리고 그 다음엔 무엇이 있겠습니까?
