20일 청주시에 따르면 시는 KTX 이용객들의 대중교통 이용을 돕기 위해 오송역 서쪽 광장 7천㎡의 터에 버스환승센터를 건립하기로 했다.
시는 오는 22일부터 실시설계에 들어간다. 5월에 착공해 7월에 준공할 예정이다.
버스환승센터에는 대전·세종 방면, 청주 방면, 조치원 방면, 국책기관 방면 등으로 구분된 버스 승·하차 공간이 조성된다.

비 가림 시설과 버스 정보 안내기, 의자 등 편의시설, 버스 대기 공간 등도 설치된다.
버스환승센터가 준공되면 버스를 타기 위해 승강장을 찾아다니는 오송역 이용객들의 불편을 덜어줄 것으로 기대된다.
청주시 관계자는 "버스 환승센터가 조성되면 오송역에서 버스를 더 편하게 이용할 수 있을 것"이라며 "충북도와 국토교통부, 철도시설공단, 철도공사, 행정중심복합도시건설청 등의 협조로 이 사업을 추진할 수 있게 됐다"고 말했다.
