A follow-on to the updates on the PAF's Multi-Role Fighter Acquisition Project that we posted last night.

Aside from several developments related to interests with the Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 70 Viper, we received confirmation that the PAF leadership has entertained offers from Korea Aerospace Industries to sell another squadron of FA-50PH Fighting Eagle light combat aircraft as an alternative to the Viper and Gripen.

Since the approved Horizon 2 phase only allocated MRF acquisition and not MRF + FA-50 as the original requested Horizon 2 indicates, buying additional FA-50s means being a replacement to the more expensive MRF acquisition program.

According to info we received, KAI's offer for 12 FA-50PH Block 20 with BVRAAM and targeting pod capabilities costs around half than the offer made by Saab for JAS-39C/D MS20 Gripen fighters.

It was not confirmed to us though if these new FA-50s will come with a new radar, engine and aerial refueling capabilities.

The renewed offer was pitched by KAI's local representative directly to CGPAF Lt Gen Allen Paredes and other top PAF leaders recently.
