We don't believe that the new sanctions can bring us closer to the political and diplomatic settlement. We think that we urgently need to address the humanitarian situation in the DPRK which is badly affected by sanctions. We also would like to recall that the tools of the Security Council should be utilized to support the diplomatic process rather than to create the new hurdles that lead us in the vicious circle of measures that don't help.”

유엔 주재 러시아 대표부는 14일, 미국이 유엔 안보리 차원의 추가 대북 제재를 추진하고 있는 것과 관련한 VOA의 논평 요청에 “러시아는 한반도 정세를 악화시킬 수 있는 어떤 조치에도 반대하며, 모든 당사자들에게 자제를 촉구한다”고 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 “우리는 새로운 제재가 우리를 정치적, 외교적 해법에 더 가까이 가도록 만들 수 있다고 믿지 않는다”고 말했습니다.

이어 “우리는 제재의 영향을 심각하게 받는 북한 내 인도적 상황에 시급히 대처할 필요가 있다고 생각한다”고 덧붙였습니다.
