The time a Seal joined the Australian SASR (by Maxolon)

호주 SASR과 합류한 SEAL

 

This is not my story. It comes from a family member who served, who shall be called Bob. Because that is a fine name.

이건 제 경험담이 아닙니다. 복무했던 한 친척의 경험담인데, 여기선 그를 밥이라고 부르겠습니다. 좋은 이름이니까요.

 

So Bob was a member of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment, in water troop specifically/. They were tasked with water based insertions as their specialty. Water troop guys tend to be the most gung ho, alpha male guys in that high speed world, or at least from what I'm told.

밥은 호주 SASR(특수공정연대)의 수상 부대 소속이었습니다. 그들 주특기는 수상 침투였죠. 제가 듣기로는 특수부대원들 세계에서 제일 열정적이고 알파메일들이 많은 곳이 수상 부대라고 하더군요.

 

Bob was a team leader for an exercise to covertly infiltrate and observe an uninhabited island off the coast of Perth. The plan was for teh five man team to insert from a high speed RIB, underwater swim, assemble on the beach and then proceed with the rest of the op.

밥은 퍼스 해안의 무인도를 은밀히 침투하고 관찰하는 훈련의 팀장이었습니다.

그들 계획은 5인조 팀으로서 고속단정을 타고 투입, 잠영 후 해변에서 집결하여 나머지 작전을 수행하는 것이었죠.

 

Everything went fine up until they assembled on the beach. Bob, as team leader, did a head count to make sure everyone was in their spot. One (Bob), two three, four, five, six. Okay, ready to go, move to...wait, six? He looked again, and yep, him and five others. This made no sense. Five guys in the plan, five guys on the boat, six guys on the beach. Bob broke protocol and shined his torch at his team. He saw four other guys armed to the teeth wearing all black, and one very non high speed fur seal. This island was one of their hangouts at this time of year, and apparently Mr Seal decided to hang out with his new buddies.

해변에 집결하기까지 모든게 순조로웠습니다. 팀장인 밥은 다들 제대로 왔는지 확인하기 위해 인원 점검을 했죠.

하나(밥 자신), 둘, 셋, 넷, 다섯, 그리고 여섯.

좋아, 다시 이동해보자고…잠깐 여섯?

밥은 다시 확인해봤죠. 이번에도 밥을 제외하고 다섯명이 있었습니다. 말이 안되는 상황이었습니다. 계획상 다섯명, 보트에서 다섯명, 해변에 여섯명.

밥은 규정을 어기고 손전등을 켰습니다. 손전등에 드러난건 올블랙에 중무장한 부대원 네명과, 군생활엔 별 관심이 없는 한마리의 물개였습니다.

알고보니 그 시기에 이 무인도는 물개들이 자주 찾는 장소 중 하나였고, 미스터 물개는 새 친구들과 어울리고 싶었던거였죠.

 

Not knowing if their new water team member was friendly or not, he quickly gave the order to run the fuck away in case the seal decided to see what his new friends tasted like. A very non-operator way to abort a mission I'm told.

신입이 아군인지 적군인지 구분할 수 없었기에, 밥은 물개가 새 친구들이 어떤 맛인지 확인하려하기 전에 당장 도망치라는 명령을 내렸습니다.

수상 부대 명성에 걸맞지 않는 임무 중단 방식이었죠.
