"미 8군 작전처는 마이켈리스 대령의 한국군이 진지를 이탈했다는 한의에 관해 조사했다. 주한미군사고문단 장교들도 1사단 부대들을 방문했다. 작전처 보좌관은 개인적으로 한국군 전선에 나가 상황을 조사했다. 모든 보고는 한국군 부대들이 백 준장이 말한 그곳에 있다는 데 동의했다.
