CV35 의 교전사례(2차 에디오피아 침공 Dembeguina Pass 전투 중)


Adowa 근처에서 전차 소대가 포함된 이탈리아군 대열은 침투한 적 비정규군이 Dembeguina Pass 를 점령해서 그들을 아군에게서 차단했다는 것을 확인했다. 전차 지휘관은 보병 지원 없이 통로를 돌파하여 후퇴하기로 결정하였다.

험준한 지형은 기동할 공간이 부족했고 적들은 전차가 돌격할 수 있는 고정된 진지에 있지 않았다. 이 혼란스러운 전장에서 CV 35들은 속도를 이용할 수 없었다.

단차장들은 내려서 길안내 역할을 시작했다. 적들은 곧 후방으로부터 차량에 접근하여 궤도와 총을 무력화 시킬 수 있었다. 쌍발 기관총은 구부려버리기 쉬웠고 내부에서 교체할 수 없었다. 전차 6대 모두 이 교전에서 파괴되었다. 


In the area near Adowa an Italian column with a platoon of tanks attached found that they were cut off from friendly forces by infiltrating irregulars who occupied Dembeguina Pass. The tank commander decided to withdraw without infantry support and fight his way back through the pass.

The terrain was rocky with little space to maneuver and the enemy held no fixed positions for the tanks to charge. In this fluid situation the CV 35s were unable to use their speed. The unit officers dismounted to act as ground guide. The enemy was soon able to approach the vehicles from the rear and disable first the tracks and then the guns. The twin machine guns were susceptible to being bent and could not be changed from within the vehicle. The entire six tanks were destroyed in this manner.
